Flea market treasures

Last Sunday we did some flea market hopping and found some treasures. Some of the findins will need some TLC and some white paint. I still have couple wooden boxes in my car. I can't wait to bring them in and start cleaning and painting them. Today is the day, I have a chance to seek the paint. I'm hoping to have a chance to visit some fabric store, if I have time. But here are my flea market findings...

I will put more pictures up after makeovers and from those two wooden boxes.
Wishing all a very good Thursday!!

Sentiments and projects

I just realized, that christmas is on it's way. I have discovered the mysteries of a sewing machine and textile printing. I should open my pillow factory again. I need to go shopping for new fabrics. It's time to start making christmas presents. We also have a vacation coming right after christmas. Our very good friends are getting married in Calgary, Canada. I'm really excited about the wedding and the trip. Some pillows will be packed in a suitecase and fly over seas with us. Lot of great times a head. I can hardly wait! But I'll get back on the trip plans later.

I also have a desire for new curtains for the living room. I have white curtains now. I want to have more softer look. Now the white is see-through and I want a little bit thicker ones and made of linen. I have seen ones that I really like in some of the web-stores, but there is a chance that I will make them my self. My husband likes a greyish linen, which would suit perfectly to our living room.

From my grandmother's little farm we had a chance to have old hay stakes. We made an interior stairs. We still need to finish them up with some jute chord. I keep them in my grandmother's old flowerpot.

Hope you all have great day!

Tuesday's pictures

"Tiistai on toivoa täynnä" (Tuesday is full of hope), goes an old Finnish saying. Well atleast it's not raining , yet. I opened the curtains and let the sun shine full up the whole room. I love the sun ray when it hits the furniture and gives your eye a new dimensions. You can see your old furniture in a different perspective So here is couple photos from the bedroom. About the old closet, I have to meantion that it is built by my husband. We found those old doors last summer. The idea right away was to build a closet around them. So here is it.

Autumn colors

It's a beautiful Monday morning! I opened the balcony door to have a fresh breeze of September air. I'm happy to have my tea to warm me up. I love the feeling of getting up from a warm bed. The floors are slightly cold and you need to grab a sweater that is laying on the chair. I'm looking through the windows and mostly I see yellowish colors, but also brownish. Some of the leafs are still green. I'm waiting on the peak moment of the autumn colors, but looking back for this hot summer, we might not even have beautiful autumn colors. I guess living in the city makes a difference too. Here we have our own burdens that countrysides doesn't have.

The feeling in "finding things you like", gives you a stunning feeling. We did find beautiful pieces and things that you can work on. I will put pictures on those later.

We also spent a nice time in Ruissalo, which is an island that is conservation area. We took the old chair and tea with us and rushed to the island. I love photos we took. I need more of these type of weekends. Makes you feel great and strong.

Out with the new, in with the old

I love to do changes around the apartment, (here I wish I could say around the house) but as living in the aparment it's not always that easy. Your space is really limited. I remember when we moved in, mostly our furniture was from this certain swedish store.  It was easy, simple and cheap. Now after some years it's all changed. We have been lucky to have my grandmother's old furniture. I love the old cabinet. It was saved from the old garage. We took all the paint off. It had atleast three layers of paint. But I love the way it turned out. You can see the history and the lived life in it. I also adore old windows. I have quite a few, but always looking for more. We have two of those green armchairs, but as you can see it needs to be repaired. My question is, What color??

Sunday morning...

Here we have one of the reasons for my blog title. I did fall for this poor chair. My husband and I went to his cousins wedding this summer and on the way back home we stopped by at Hilta & Hulta for a nice cup of coffee. A beautiful old house from the 19th century, it sure was worth taking a break from driving. All the furniture in the house was for sale. What a treat to sit on an old chair for coffee and then take the chair home with you, and this old blue chair melted my heat. I just had to have it! I needed this chair! It needed a little TLC on its legs and it turned out great after a fix up. So beautiful.

I have had it in my mind for a long time to take this chair for a photo shoot. So on a Sunday morning both my husband and I went for a session. The perfect place was in front of the Turku Cathedral. A beautiful chair and beautiful church, it was perfect. We had timed the session perfectly too, right after the Sunday morning mass. We sure did amuse people who walked by us. It's always a pleasure to make people smile eh. When I was carrying that chair around some man walked by and took his shot too with his camera. Hope it was a good one.

So sit back, and enjoy this blog and fall in love with an old chair like I did. You may just find a piece of furniture that brings you just as much joy as my old chair did.

Some handmade pillows

Yesterday I was feeling productive. I had some washed linen waiting for my inspiration. All I needed was some masking tape, black textile color and a clean kitchen table. Nowadays I'm really delighted about clean lines, stripes and numbers. Here are some pillows that I made...

Couple months ago I found some old wheat sacks from the flea market, just had to have them! Two of them I made into pillows. Here is one of them.

Some flea market finds

Yesterday I had a chance to do some flea market hopping with my husband. Old oil lamp, soap cup and some grain sacks found a new home with us. Old suitecase was found couple weeks ago. I have also collected old beer bottles from the Finnish factories. They will be fun to use for spices or just for decoration. Old Riihimäki's glass jars are one my favorites. The price range can be huge so it's good to look around first. Some people ask a fortune of the jars. Sure older jars are much pricier.

Delicious, Tasty, Yummy, and so Devine

Today I dug up an old recipe, Tuuloman's tart. It's been a long time since I last tasted that devine chocolate frosting. It's really simple and fast tart to do. It was a perfect time to take a break from the daily duties and have a nice cup of coffee with it.
Tuuloman's tart

Darker nights with candle lights

Summer is really gone. You can feel the fresh breeze of autumn on your face. It gently turns your nose red and makes you want to have something to make you warm, like candle light. Through the window I can see the wind tearing the leafs on the trees. I'm wrapping a quilt that my mom has made for me tightly around me and hoping for little bit sunshine for tomorrow...

My first thoughts...

I finally had the courage to start my own blog. I have been thinking about it for a while but as most of the things in my life, I need to do some thinking first and then go for it. I live with my husband and our cat. We both have a passion for old, vintage and used things. We dream about an old house to live in which needs some TLC. That will have to wait for a while...Meanwhile we will use the time for treasure hunting all around the world. Traveling is a huge passion for us and we will try to catch the moments and share it to others by taking pictures, lots of pictures. I'm hoping to fulfill this blog with pictures, thoughts and moments that makes my life beautifull for me. Hopefully you will stumble into my blog and fall for an old chair..
