a Piece of Pale Pink

Sometimes I feel that it's like a battle of colors. One day you love all bright and bold colors and one day you just enjoy a hint of pale pink lying around the house. J just fell a sleep so it's mommy time and that means more painting. Our dryer broke the other day. It's funny that you can do fine without one for ten years and when we moved to this house, it had one waiting on us and now I have gotten so used to it that I need a new one bad. So we went and bought one and it will be delivered on friday. It's just perfect when having a baby and I do love the softness of sheets and towels after using a dryer. We bought one that it should be very eco friendly (if that is possible) and uses a lot less electricity.


Joskus tuntuu, että värit taistelevat keskenään. Jonain päivänä tykkään tosi kirkkaista ja rohkeista väreistä, mutta toisinaan sitä nauttii haaleasta vaaleanpunaisesta, joka lojuu pitkin kämppää. J nukahti juuri, joten on äidin oma aika ja tämä tarkoittaa maalaamista. Meidän kuivausrumpu sanoi itsensä irti muutama päivä sitten. On se hassua, kun on pärjännyt monia vuosia ilman ja kun muutimme tähän taloon, se odotti täällä entisiltä asukeilta. No nyt jo muutaman päivän jälkeen kaipaan sitä konetta. Piti siis astella kauppaan ja hakea uusi ja se tulee onneksi jo perjantaina. On se kätevää vauvan kanssa ja tykkään kyllä pehmeistä lakanoista ja pyyhkeistä, jotka kuivausrumpu saa aikaan. Ostettiin mahdollisimman ecoystävällinen ( jos sellainen on edes mahdollista) ja vähemmän sähköä vievä.

One Soup for Me

Last night we woke up because of the thunder storm. I don't think I have ever been so beafraid of the thunder than last night. Lightning struck so close. I talked to a good friend of mine and she told me that her neigbour's house burned down last night. So terrible. I hope these storms are done soon.  Nothing major has happened today, so here's a pic of the poster that I bought from my Helsinki trip.

Viime yönä heräsimme hirveään ukkoseen. En muista koska olisin pelännyt ukkosta niin paljon kuin eilen. Salama iski tosi lähelle. Juttelin tänään hyvän ystäväni kanssa ja hän kertoi, että heidän naapurinsa talo oli palanut viime yönä salaman iskusta. Järkyttävää. Toivottavasti nämä ukkoset ovat kohta ohi. Tänään ei ole tapahtunut mitään ihmeellistä, joten tässä kuva julisteesta, jonka löysin Helsinki reissultani.

And Yellow it is...

I would love a door like that, bright yellow. I just don't think my husband would approve that much yellow. We do have a yellow wall upstairs, really bright yellow. I love it. I think I love everything yellow now. I bought paint last week. My husband asked, was it yellow? well no, only white. I have so many furnitures that I need to paint white. One table, little cabinet made of a window and a frame was turned into a white color. Here is some pictures that I found from Pinterest with hints of yellow.

Haluan tuollaisen oven, kirkkaan keltaisen, mutta luulenpa, että mieheni ei ehkä hyväksyisi noin paljon keltaista. Meillä on yläkerrassa yksi seinä jo maalattu kirkkaan keltaiseksi. Minusta se on makee. Taidan kyllä nyt tykätä kaikesta keltaisesta. Ostin viime viikolla maalia, johon mieheni tokaisi, oliko sekin keltaista? No ei sentään. Minulla on jonossa huonekaluja, jotka haluan valkoiseksi, joten olen sutinut nyt valkoiseksi. Elikkä yhden pöydän, kaapin, jossa ovena on vanha ikkuna ja vanhat kehykset. Tässä kuitenkin kuvia keltaisilla mausteilla, jotka löysin Pinterestistä.

Rag Rug on a Table

So here we have a rag rug on a table. I still don't know if it's my thing, but I will keep it on the tabe and see how it feels. Two nights has gone by having quests over. It's been nice. Today I'm going shopping with J and my old high school friend. Sales are still going in the store and also you can admire autumn's hit colors. I'm graving for a cardigan with mustard color. I just don't know if it really suites me. Might make me look pale. So will see. Weekend will bring us my husband's sister's child's baptism.


Noniin, tässä on sitten räsymatto pöydän päällä. Vieläkin mietin, että onko se mun juttu, mutta ajattelin nyt vain fiilsitellä ja katsoa miltä se siinä pöydällä tuntuu. Kaksi iltaa on kahveteltu vieraiden kanssa. Se on ollut mukava piristys viikolle. Tänään on tarkoitus lähteä ostoksille J:n ja vanhan lukioaikaisen ystävän kanssa. Alet in vielä mukavasti käynnissä, mutta samalla saa maistiaisia syksyn tuulista. Minua himottaisi saada sinapinkeltainen neuletakki, mutta se saattaa tehdä minusta vieläkin kalpeamman mitä nyt olen, joten saa nähdä. Viikonloppuna on miehen siskon lapsen ristiäiset.

Feeling Cloudy

Today is nice and sunny, but I still felt like sewing a cloud pillow. Our toilet upstairs had an ugly sticker on it so I made a little cloud on it to cheer it up. Now I'm waiting on my husband to come home soon, because my old schoolmate is coming over with her new boyfriend. It will nice to finally meet him. By the way, big thanks to all your comments on my last post. I took some pics of the rag rug on the table too. I still need to digest about it. Is it cool or not?

Tänään on aurinkoinen päivä, mutta tuli silti sellainen fiilis, että hurautin ompelukoneella pilvityynyn. Yläkerran vessassa oli joku jäätävä tarran jäänne, jotai ei saanut millään irti, joten piristin sen ulkonäköä tekemällä pienen pilven myös siihen. Odottelen tässä miestäni kotiin piakkoin, koska opiskelukaveri on tulossa kylään uuden miesystävänsä kanssa. Näemmä hänet ensimmäistä kertaa. Kiitos muuten edellisen postauksen kommenteista. Otin kuvia siitä räsymatosta pöydällä. Nyt pitää vielä sulatella, että onko se hieno vai ei?

Fallen For a Rag Rugs

Yesterday was so much fun. I went to Helsinki for a day to meet beautiful Sini for the first time. We had some good times walking around Helsinki ( my feet were so sore), stopped by in interior stores, had some good pizzas and chatted about new projects, dreams and must do interiors. I fell in love with this rag rug. I also bought one for the table and cool poster. I will post about those later. I'm loving the bright colors and carefree feeling that rag rugs brings to your home. Looks like our kitty was pleased about new rag rug too.

Eilen oli mukava päivä. Tapasin Helsingissä ensimmäistä kertaa uuden mukavan blogituttavuuden Sinin. Sää oli hieman arvaamaton, mutta hyvässä seurassa huonokaan keli ei haittaa. Käveltiin ympäri Helsinkiä (jalat olivat rättiväsyneet) ja käytiin ihanissa sisustuskaupoissa, pisteltiin poskeen makoisat pizzat ja juteltiin sisustuksen uusista tuulista ja omista haaveprojekteista. Ihastuin tähän räsymattoon, joka odotti minua eräässä liikkeessä. Ostin myös räsymaton pöydälle ja makeen julisteen, mutta niistä sitten lisää myöhemmin. Minusta vaan nuo räsymaton raikkaat värit ja huolettomuuden tunne on juuri sitä mitä nyt kaipaan kotiin. Ja ilmeisesti kisukin oli uudesta matosta mielissään.

Weekend. Gone. Tomorrow. Exciting.

Weekend has gone pretty fast. On friday my husband and I had a date night. J went to my parent's and us two saw the Full Monty in a theater. It was such a good show. Saturday just passed by hanging around the house. Today I must clean. House is  a mess. Hoping to do some projects too that are unfinnished, like our office. I have been thinking about a table to our office. I'm between making it or buying it. Should I have trestle legs from IKEA and make a table from old wood or a doot ro something or should I just look for an old table with a drawer?? The table that I have now will be going to the veranda. Tomorrow will be so exciting. I'm going to Helsinki to meet a great friend for the first time. This blog world is amazing sometimes. The plan for tomorrow is to enjoy Helsinki without rain, walk around, take pictures, eat well and stop by in flea markets and stores. But first of all talk about anything and everything that comes to mind.

Viikonloppu on kulunut taas vauhdilla. Perjantaina meillä oli mieheni kanssa treffi-ilta. J meni vanhempieni luokse hoitoon ja me menimme kesäteatteriin katsomaan Housut Pois. Oli hyvä näytelmä. Lauantai meni kotosalla pyörien. Tänään olisi tarkoitus ottaa itseään niskasta kiinni ja siivota ja ehkä saada jotain projekteja taas eteenpäin. Kämppä on ainakin hävityksen jäljiltä. Olen miettinyt työhuoneen pöytää. Olen kahden vaiheilla, että ostanko IKEAsta pukkijalat ja siihen päälle tekisi itse vanhasta laudasta pöytälvyn tai laittaisko vanhan oven pöydäksi vai etsinkö vanhan talonpoikaispöydän laatikolla?? Nykyinen pöytä olisi tarkoitus laittaa verannalle. Huomisesta olen ihan tärinöissäni. Olen menossa Helsinkiin tapaamaan uutta ihanaa ystävää. Joskus tällä blogimaailmalla on ihanaa annettavaa. Luvassa on nauttia Helsingistä ilman sadetta, kävellä ja kuvata, syödä hyvin ja käydä vähän kirpuilla ja kaupoissa. Ennen kaikkea jutella kaikesta mitä mieleen juolahtaa.

A peak in the Bedroom

Here is some shots from our bedroom. As you can see, J stil sleeps in our bedroom but I have been thinking of what to put on her bed's place when it moves away. I want a closet there, but should it be the one my huband made or another 50's cabinet. We have one 50's cabinet in our living room, but I would like another in grey or white. Those are hard to find now or they cost a lot. But it's grown into a hit now and people will pay way too much of it.

Tässä muutama kuva meidän makkarista. J nukkuu edelleen meidän kanssa samassa huoneessa, mutta hienosti omassa sängyssään. Olen kyllä jo mietiskellyt mitä pinnasängyn tilalle oikein sitten laittaisi, kun se muuttaa. Haluan siihen kaapin, se on selvä. Mutta laitetaanko se mieheni tekemä vai 50-luvun liinavaatekaappi. Meillä on sellainen kyllä jo olohuoneessa, mutta haluaisin myös valkoisena tai harmaana. Nyt ne tuntuvat vain olla kiven alla tai maksavat maltaita. Niin kai aina käy hetken hittituotteille. Ihmiset maksavat ihan mitä vaan.

From Flea Market

Yesterday my mom, J and I went to our cottage. Renovation has been huge in the cottage, but it'sgetting there and will be so beautiful. We also stopped by on the way in couple flea markets. Awesome finds again for my opinion. Old wooden box from a place that I have lots of memories from, Arabia's coffee cup and cute bowl apparently from Germany, but fit well with Arabia's style.


Eilen käytiin äidin ja J:n kanssa mökillä. Siellä on iso remontti meneillään, mutta pikkuhiljaa se valmistuu ja siitä tulee kyllä kaunis. Matkalla pysähdyttiin parilla kirpulla ja minusta löydöt oli aikas huiput. Vanha puulatikko paikasta, johon minulla riittää paljon muistoja, Arabian vanha kuppi ja kaunis kulho, ilmeisesti saksalainen, mutta sopii hyvin yhteen Arabian kanssa.

Travel Fever

Weekend was hectic, but lots of fun. Camera wasn't with me to catch all the action. But today I have been thinking about our trip a lot. Yes, we are going on a vacation in September to Calgary, Canada again. We have been there every year in the last three years. This year it has a new perpective again. There will be three of us going. J's first time in the plane and first time for us to travel with a child. We have only shift in London and from London to Calgary we will have a baby bed for J in the plane. Travel fever is rising a lot. Seeing the Rocky mountains again, eating all the favorite foods, shopping and most of all being with a great friends again. J's god parents will be seeing their god daughter for the first time too. Two more months to go...

Viikonloppu oli aika hektinen. Kamera ei ollut mukana temmellyksessä. Tänään olen mietiskelly paljon meidän tulevaa matkaa. Kyllä, lomareissu on tulossa ja syyskuussa suuntana on taas Calgary, Kanada . Ollaan nyt käyty kolmena vuotena peräkkäin. Tällä kertaa onkin aika eri meininki matkustaa, koska meitä onkin kolme. J:n ensimmäinen lentomatka tiedossa ja meille ensimmäinen kerta matkustaa lapsen kanssa. Meilä on vain yksi vaihto Lontoossa ja Lontoosta Calgaryyn meillä on vauvakauakalo koneessa. Matkakuume kasvaa. Pian nähdään taas Kalliovuoret, päästään syömään lempiherkkuja, shoppailemaan ja mikä parasta, viettä aikaa ihanien ihmisten seurassa. J:n kummit näkevät kumityttönsä myös ensimmäistä kertaa. Kaksi kuukautta vielä...

The Blanket

The blanket I ordered from Ellos came the other day. It's really nice material. Softer than I expected. Today my plan is to clean the house like a maniac. Our friends from Lempäälä are coming here for the weekend. My husband is helping my parents at the cottage with electricity and later on when he comes home, we need to do the groceries. I'm excited about tomorrow. I haven't seen our friends almost a year now. Will be lots to talk about, showing the house around so better clean up really well and good food to eat. That's the plan. Viltti, jonka tilasin Ellokselta tuli pari päivää sitten. Se on oikein kiva ja pehmeää materiaalia. Tänään on tarkoitus siivota apinan raivolla. Ystäväperhe on tulossa huomenna Lempäälästä viikonlopuksi. Mieheni on mökillä auttamassa porukoitani sähköhommista. Tarkoitus olisi käydä kaupassa, kun hän saapuu kotiin. Odotan huomista jo innolla. Ei olla nähty varmaan vuoteen. On varmasti paljon puhuttavaa, näytetään uusi kotimme ja syödään vatsat täyteen. Sellainen olisi suunnitelma. Toivottavasti sinulla on tiedossa mukava viikonloppu!

J's Dog

There was a cute surprise in the mailbox today. Jane's dog arrived to J. She was happy about it. Gave a big smile when having it. Today my mom was over and we did some serious gardening. It was awesome.

Tänään oli söpö yllätys postilaatikossa. Janen koiruus saapui J:lle. Hän oli hyvin mielissään saadessaan koiran, koska naama oli pelkkää hymyä. Äitini oli tänään kylässä ja kukkapenkkiä myllättiin ihan tosissaan. Lopputulos oli ihan mahtava.

Hmmm....strawberries

We have in our back yard a little wild strawberry ground. I love it. Got some strawberries the other day. Tasted good with some pancakes and ice cream.

Meillä on takapihalla aivan ihana metsämansikkamaa. Saatiin sieltä toissapäivänä makoisat amrjat lettujen päälle jäätelön kera.

From the Antique Days

Yesterday we visited Fiskars antique days and it was raining cats and dogs. In the afternoon the weather changed to a little bit better, but I only took some quick shots with my phone's camera. I made some finds, but pics about those later. Today J's godparents came for a visit. We had a nice chat. Hopefully you had a nice weekend!

Eilen pyörähdettiin Fiskarsin antiikkipäivillä. Taivaalta tuli kissoja ja koiria. Iltapäivällä keli hieman selkiintyi, mutta nappasin nyt vain kännykän kameran muutaman kuvan. Tein muutaman löydönkin, mutta kuvaa niistä myöhemmin. Tänään J:n kummit tulivat kahveelle. Oli kiva rupatella pitkästä aikaa. Toivottavasti sinulla oli mukava viikonloppu!

Nice surprises!

This week has been a week of wonders. J learned to sit. A very dear friend of mine brought me an Andy poster as a birthday present. That was a nice surprise, very nice indeed. Finally I got my colorful kakao ögön poster framed too. It took a year. I'm very excited for tomorrow. We are going to Fiskars to antique days and vintage days. Treasure hunting is always nice!

Tämä viikko on sisältänyt ihmeitä. J oppi istumaan ilman tukea. Ihana ystäväiseni toi minulle synttäriyllärinä Andyn julisteen. Huippu ylläri. Lopultakin sain värilliset kakao silmät raameihin. Siihen meni vuosi. Olen ihan innoissani huomisesta. Ollaan menossa Fiskarsin antiikkipäiville ja vintage tapahtumaan. Aarrejahti on aina niin kivaa!
