From a tablecloth to a pillow

I bought this old lace tablecloth long time ago from the flea market. It has been around for no use and thought what to do with it. So finally I decided to use it in to a pillow. I thought the black and white contrast gives the lace a chance to stand out great. So this morning I had a chance to sew it all together. I'm happy with the result!

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Zebra in the Livingroom

Hello everyone! Here's the zebra chair. I'm so happy that my computer worked today and was kind enough to download these pictures. It is snowing heavily right now. You can hardly see the christmas lights that I put out yesterday. I love the snow, but it is sometimes hard to live in a city when all the snow starts to pile up and you have to use the car to move a round. But this amount of snow gives me hope to have a white christmas, but you never know.

I have only two days left on my training. I'm so excited! I know that I will be back in January, but this christmas break is just what I need. Master's thesis is something that I still need to work on before the break but after these busy weeks it will be fine to just sit down and write. I hope I get my thoughts all together and also get something done.

I also hope that I will have time to start and finish my christmas presents and other handcrafts that I have in my mind. I sewed those pillows on the chair the other day. I had some Marimekko fabrics left overs. Here's the before and after pics of the chair. It's different and might be even shocking. Fits me perfect.
Hope you all have a nice day!

Hello Friday!

And the weekend is finally here. Hello weekend! I sure did wait for you. This weekend I will spend it with my family. My brother and his wife and my beautiful nephew drove down here yesterday. They are staying with my parent's. They have so much more room than us. But anyhow, I'm excited.

Yesterday, my husband and I had a chance to go his little sister's place and meet their new baby boy. He was a such a cuttie with his little fingers and toes. For some women moterhood just fits like a glowe and his sister is just like that. I wish them all the best.

Next weekend we will have our friends over for some chritmas celebration. It's a little bit of tradition already for us to have a party. Usually we go with all different themes, but this year it's all about the people, friends and just having a good time.

Hope you all enjoy your Friday night!

Good morning to you all beautiul, who has a time stop by at my blog. First of all I have to apologize, that I have been way too busy to post anything after last Sunday. There are so many beautiful blogs that I want and need to comment when I have a chance. I didn't realize that these weeks are going to be this busy with University studies and Speacial Ed teacher tranining. What happened to the  mornings when I had time for tea?

I hope you all have a beautiful Wednesday! I have to pack my bag a rush to the school. I have classes to teach again. But before I go I want to tell you about this beautiful blog that I'm a big fan of. It's Suzanne's beautiful blog. She has the best ideas for DIY's. I love what she did to her old door. I think it's just amazing. Have a great visit at her blog!!

Happy Father's Day !!!

It's Time! But When?

I've heard some great news during this busy week. My husband's little sister gave birth to a baby boy on Wednesday.Everything went well. Yesterday I heard that a good friend of mine is giving bith to her third child on January. We haven't seen each other for a a long time so I didn't have a clue.

Yeaterday I told you about the long phone call. Well that was true peer support. Both of our lives are not suitable for having a baby right now and we are both feeling a bit left out. Having children is a blessing and both my dear friend and I want to have children and time is ticking. I need to do my Master's on Special Education first before children.Time will show...

Now I have to rush out and go searching for Father's Day gift. I know I'm a bit late, but I will have this day to do it. Tomorrow we will celebrate both, my mom's birthday and Father's Day.

Hope you all have a pleasant weekend!! and Father's Day!!!

Jars, Jars, Jars

I have to admit that I have a passion for Riimäki Jars. I have a quite a collection. Almost all of them are found from the flea markets. I think few of them are from my mom. In the first picture and in the jar are my baby shoes. I thought they look cute in the jar. In the second jar I have Sorsakoski's cutlery from Hackman. I love them. It brings up a lot of memories from my grandmother's house. I have a couple from my grandmom, but I have also found them from the antic store's and flea markets.
These jars are great for anything and they are domestic.

Good Morning Flea Market

We are about to leave our treasure hunt for today. I have missed couple weekends and it feels exciting to go today. It's a beautiful Sunday morning with a fresh breeze. I lighted up the candles at first today when I woke up. It was good to have my husband back from work things. It's always fun to go with him for a treasure hunt. If we get lucky, I will sure put my findings here later. Here's a morning moment from the "hall" to the bedroom...

The Saturday Morning Enchantment

It's a Saturday morning and a quiet city. When I wake up, I usually go straight to the living room and open a TV for all the morning shows and news. This morning was different. It was quiet and I wanted to keep it that way. I sneaked around the house. I swiped my woolen socks on to get my feet warm again. I love the cold floor for a few seconds when I wake up, because it really wakes you up, but after I  need to get my feet warm again. I'm having my mornng tea. I'm not much of a coffee drinker. I could be, but I can't. Coffee makes me feel sick. I stick with tea then and mostly green and sometimes white. Today I'm going to my parents house for a visit. My mom and I have some tuning plans...Here's a morning picture of our kitchen. All the chairs are different and from the 19th century. I can't wait to have a proper kitchen that I want. When living in a flat and for rent, the kitchen is what it is. Our flat is from the 70's. The cabinets are not the finest. I don't like them at all. I have to stand them for couple more years, so I will be done with my Master's dergee. Feels like a long time, but I know it will fly by in the end.

Hope you all have a great weeked!

Casual Friday

This week just flied by. It's hard to believe that it is already Friday. Weather is getting colder again. I can feel it in my bones and particularly on my toes. This is how it is when you live in a flat. Housing cooperative saves money by not heating the radiators. It needs to be really cold outside when they do start heating the radiators. So I dug up my woolen stockings. My mom has made these for me couple years ago. I always ask for a pair for christmas. I'm excited to see what kind I will get this year and how many.

I noticed that my last blogging was on Monday. What a shame! I have been so busy with my master's thesis. It feels like a huge project and it is. I still haven't found the theory for my research. My topic hasn't been scoped enough so it's hard to find material for it.

I was looking for our old christmas lights for our balcony but I didn't find any. Maybe I have to stop by at the store and buy new ones. The nights are getting dark and it would be nice to have lights outside. I'm a christmas person. The atmosphere is the number one, not the commercial junk. But I still want my christmas lights =)

Hope you all have a pleasant Friday!!

Industrial Compassion

I'm loving my new lamp. It's an old motorcycle lamp from a Russian motorbike. It was found from a flea market a while ago. I think I meantioned about it earlier. It needed a little fix up. My husband repaired the wiring in side the lamp. The light is really bright so, I think we need a bulb with a little less power, but I was happy to have it home finally.
